Imagine: Late Nite Shuffle

After recent complaints from NBC affiliates about plummeting ratings for their local news around the country. NBC has decided to switch their evening linup following this years Olympic Winter Games. This shift however plans to move the Jay Leno Show from 10PM to 11:35PM...which will bump The Tonight Show hosted by Conan O'Brien past midnight to 12:05AM. Conan released a statement today that included the following...

"
But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn’t matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.

Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it's always been that way.

Yours,
Conan"

Conan expressed his regret and said the move would also be unfair to Jimmy Fallon who inherited "Late Nite" and to Carson Daly who would both be pushed back. Both he and Leno had their own little jabs at the situation during their respective shows...

"NBC said the show performed exactly as they expected it would and then canceled us. Don't confuse this [with] when we were on at late night and performed better than expected and they canceled us. That was totally different," Leno quipped.

O'Brien had the following to say on his show Monday:

-- "Good evening, I'm Conan O'Brien, the new host of 'Last Call with Carson Daly.' "

-- "This weekend no one was seriously hurt, but a 6.5 earthquake hit California. The earthquake was so powerful that it knocked Jay Leno's show from 10:00 to 11:35."

-- "On the positive side, I have learned a valuable lesson from all this: Never sign a contract that ends with the word 'NOT.' "

The dispute must play itself out and it no doubt will get more interesting in the coming weeks. So stay tuned and

Imagine: RIP Chris Henry

Chris Henry
1983-2009

Despite having a tarnished image from his first couple years in the NFL, and some slight trouble with the law; everyone who knew Chris personally contests that he was a soft spoken kind hearted person. They also say that they had noticed a change in his demeanor and acknowledged his efforts to better his image and his life in general.

"It is with great sadness to learn Chris has passed away,'' Henry's agent, Andy Simms said in a statement. "For those who knew Chris, he was nothing like his public perception. A loving and caring individual, he was thankful for what he had in life, and proud of what he had overcome.''

Imagine: Misunderstandings do Happen

Always check your childs homework..

"Dear Mrs. Jones,
I wish to clarify that I am not now nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out of every single shovel we had and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn’t show me dancing around a pole. It’s supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in."

Enjoy. Use Your IMAGination.

Imagine: Even More Bad News for Tiger??

At least it's not an affair. The latest news involving Tiger Woods, only that of a bad acquaintance. His name is being tied to a doctor accused of providing athletes with performance-enhancing drugs. Tiger at least I tried to find a picture with a smile in case you remember what those are.

Tiger_Woods Dr. Anthony Galea was found with human growth hormone and Actovegin, a drug extracted from calf's blood, according to the New York Times. Dr. Galea has treated Tiger Woods and Olympic swimmer Dara Torres.

Galea visited Woods' home in Florida at least four times in February and March, the newspaper reported, to provide that platelet therapy after his agents were concerned by his slow recovery from June 2008 knee surgery.

Even Tiger Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg posted "I would really ask that you guys don't write this? If Tiger is NOT implicated, and won't be, let's please give the kid a break."

Woods announced Friday he is taking an indefinite leave from golf to work on his marriage after allegations of infidelity surfaced in recent weeks.

I personally believe he should be left alone and that this whole situation should blow over. The problem is we treat these celebrities like they’re  running for President and expect them to be perfect then its the biggest news ever when we find out there human.”  -Imag

Nothing has been proven yet, but it has gotten to the point where this entire thing seems like a master diabolical plot to destroy Tiger’s life. Whoever is behind it is doing a damn good job cause the hits just keep coming. I'm pulling for Tiger to get back on top..will he?..idk but Use Your IMAGination.

Imagine: The Soul Train Awards 09'

Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard co-hosted the 2009 Soul Train Awards this past Sunday; in case you missed it. It's been a minute since the Soul Train Music Awards were last held. The show was taped in Atlantla and aired on Centric — the new channel run jointly by BET and MTV, both of which are owned by Viacom. Among those honored this year were L.A. Reid, Babyface Edmonds, and Charlie Wilson. Also in attendance were the Real Housewives of Atlanta who even presented an award. Still there were no exciting "Kanye-esc" moments...not even any world class celebs in attendance. One highlight though was when Terrance Howard gave co-host Taraji P. Henson an open lip kiss...TWICE. This after he recently announced ending his engagement to Columbian actress Zulay Henao...only fueling rumors that the two have become more than just friends. But Im not one to bother with finding out about other peoples' love interests...so you can just Use Your IMAGination...

Imagine: No Fame Kills?!

This June on the View Kanye announced that he was putting together a tour with Lady Gaga, however he gave no details. As of recently it was announced that the tour would be called "FAME KILLS" and that Ye and Gaga were the only artists slated to perform. This past Tuesday morning an array of tour dates and cities were listed in the Ticketmaster website. They have since been removed. As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Ticketmaster currently lists no upcoming dates for West or the tour. It's still too early to tell if this has anything to do with the previous post below, and West' claim that he still hasn't taken time off to reflect. However the dissapearing tour dates definitely makes one raise an eyebrow. Ill keep you posted. Keep your Imagination tuned.

Imagine: Kanye Deciding to Take a Hiatus?

This is a follow up to yesterdays' story. On the series premier of 'The Jay Leno Show' where Jay-Z, Rhianna, and Kanye West were slated to perform, Kanye asked Jay Leno for a chance to speak about what happened; and about his next move. Take a look.

Imagine: The Aftermath of Kanye's Outburst at the 09 VMA's

What a crazy Sunday night at the 2009 MTV VMAs. Everyone has seen, talked about, or at least heard about Kanye West' outburst last night, and while it was in deed in bad taste, and Im not condoning it, I just wanted to be one of the few to post Kanye's apology [lmso..hopefully he called Taylor and told her personally]. And I also wanted to point out the half empty bottle of Hennessy he had ben carrying around all night [again..not condoning it..just saying]. If you somehow missed it, basically Kanye jumped on stage and took the mic from Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video to explain to everyone... "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,"[SMH]..here's what happened after...sources at MTV say Taylor Swift was seen crying backstage and being consoled by her mom. Kanye was asked to leave the building by MTV staff.

KANYE WRITES...

Hopefully Kanye will think twice next time before one of his classic outbursts. And maybe he'll leave the bottle of IMAGination [Hennessy] in the car. Classy move by the beautiful Miss Beyonce to redeem Taylor's night.

IN OTHER NEWS....THREE IS DEF A CROWD..

Kanye basically overshadowed the fact that Lil Mama [hip-hop artist and "America's Best Dance Crew" judge] tried to crash Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' finale performance unannounced and uninvited. During Jay's performance of "Empire State of Mind" to close the show, "Lil Mama" comes from her seat in the crowd up onto the stage [which seemed to be the cool thing to do that night smh] and starts to nod to the beat in front of Jay. While he did appear surprised, Jay played it smooth and continued to bob his head as well while finishing his last verse. He even threw in a punchline while Keys finished the chorus saying "You T-Paining right now" apparently referring to T Pain coming onstage unannounced during his Summer Jam performance of "D.O.A.". He then tapped her on the leg as a gesture to fall back, but she ignored the gesture and continued to try soak up some of the spotlight. She even struck a b-girl pose, and scooted to the center of the stage to be awkwardly included in the final stage shot which clearly belonged to Jay and Keys. Definitely a "smh" moment..Lil Mama, get some IMAGination.

One last shout out to Wale and UCB who got to be the house band last night for the VMAs. Good to see them do their thing and represent the DMV area.

Imagine: BLUEPRINT III

"What We Talkin Bout"?...BPIII...Who we talkin' bout?...Jay-Z. Most blogs give you a page long rant, but Imag will try to keep it brief, and very subjective[mostly just facts..not from a fans' POV]...Blueprint 3 (BPIII) is simply put, a dope album. Hov was definitely out to send a "Reminder" that even though "A Star is Born" everyday, he is still "As Real As It Gets", and his star shines brightest in the world that is Hip Hop. Jay will tell you himself it takes an "Empire State of Mind" to remain "So Ambitious" when you've been on top for so long. Whatever doubt, boredom, or lack of motivation that led to his hiatus in 2003 [when Jigga felt he was "Off Dat"], is now completely gone with his 3rd release since the classic 'Black Album'. Now it seems he realizes he has nothing left to prove and he can surpass all the "Hate" by just doing him, and making good music[as opposed to trying to please everybody's expectations ie. 'Kingdome Come']; and now that he's realized that fact, he is trully "Young Forever".
With his highly anticipated 11th studio release [first release under his new banner, ROC NATION], all debuting at #1 on Billboard, IceBerg Slim is now 'crusing in the HOV lane' so to speak because well...he's "Already Home". He's made more money than any hip hop mogul[currently worth over $500M], made more platinum albums than any hip hop artist [11, tying Elvis Presley, and sitting just below a little group known as the Beatles for most all time], started and even ended his fair share of trends ie. "DOA", WIFED the most successful and BEAUTIFUL [and $money stackin'$ at $80M last year alone..smh] female in the game...you gotta ask yourself...what's left to do?...well if you're Jiggaman its "On To The Next One" ['in the race to a Billi'- Jay-Z] business as usual. As of 05/20/09 Shawn Carter has purchased the remainder of his Def Jam contract in order to pursue a $200M deal with entertainment giant Live Nation. With distribution by Atlantic Records, his new company is called Roc Nation, and he has already inked some up and coming heavy hitters including J Cole and new signee Wale [hailing from my little hometown of Washington DC]....but enough about him...back to BPIII.
The production absolutely matches his delivery on the album with three words, fresh, masterful, and memorable [can't quite say classic..yet]. The bulk of the production load went to 'Mr. Blueprint' himself Kanye West [who produced 7 joints including the single "Run This Town", also 'Hate' which is a personal favorite of mine]. Other production credits go to Timbaland [3 insane tracks including "Venus vs. Mars" which is ridiculous, its also features some sexy vocals from Beyonce if you listen closely], The Neptunes[classic "So Ambitious" record feat. Pharell], No ID [worked with Kanye on 4 tracks], Swizz Beatz [delivered that 'street banga' that every artist needs "On to the next one", one of the best tracks on BPIII], The Inkredibles [you probably heard them producing most of Rick (officer) Ross' album, they deliver with Young Jeezy to bring a dope southern feel on "Real as it gets"], and last but not least Al Shux[who provides Jay with a dare I say it.. classic New York anthem that he is always looking for..I expect to hear Alicia Keys' soulful voice singing this hook on commercials and movie trailers for years to come].
In closing, dope flow, dope production, dope album. Best track?...too early to decide[but i'd say Reminder]. Where does it rank with his others?...too early to decide[definitelty top 3]. Jay-Z doesn't disappoint, and as expected [justifiably] claims he is the best in the game. I expect to hear at least a few more albums from S. Dot before he [seriously] decides to hang it up [but hopefully not too soon Jay..Hip Hop still needs your Imagination]. Def go cop[BUY] this one. I know I said less than a page, but c'mon its the BPIII. Til next time...Peace.

"Empire State of Mind feat. Alicia Keys":

.......Oh and I almost forgot.."Thank You".

Imagine: New Movie Starring T.I. & Chris Brown

Both T.I. and Chris Brown have already made their "acting debuts" but this is the first film in which they will have to deliver characters "outside themselves" in order for the plot to be believable. From T.I.'s performance in "ATL" and Chris Brown's performance in "THIS CHRISTMAS" I will wait until the film is actually released before I pass judgement.
The film, directed by John Luessenhop, revolves around a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case. TAKERS opens February 19th, 2010. This seems like something worth watching when it hits theaters, interesting plot and a star studded cast; leaves a lot to expect your imagination. Bravo.

Imagine: Supergroup??

If you one of those sheep that still think hip hop is dead, then NEWSFLASH... it just got a defibrillator and a shot of red bull n' vodka. Slaughterhouse went from rumors to reality a while ago, but I had to hear them for myself before I believed the hype. Joe Buddens, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, & Royce da 5'9 have officially linked up under a new banner "Slaughterhouse". And from the tracks that I've listened too they're wavin' that banner pretty high for people to see. Each of the members are strong emcees who had minimal commercial success and major label trouble. They hail from all over the country; Buddens-Jersey, Ortiz-Brooklyn, Crooked-Long Beach Cali, Royce-Detroit. Each component of the machine brings strong lyricism, hunger, and their own respective smaller following to the table. Their album was completed in two weeks and dare I say it, but it lives up to the "hype"; for whatever that's worth. Point blank if you prefer real music, real talent, and you call yourself a fan of hip hop, then its no reason you shouldn't cop the album. Download Slaughterhouse Mixtape. I support real music heavily...because that's what I make. "Slaughterhouse" Album in stores now!!! "Use Your IMAGination" mixtape everywhere 09/11/09!!!

Imagine: "Run This Town"

This new video for the much anticipated "Blueprint 3" release, was filmed at Fort Totten Park in New York. Here Jay-Z makes it clear that RocNation is in the building. Directed by Anthony Mandler and with a cast of over 80 extras, the visual production for “Run This Town” is far from the predictable dime a dozen hip hop video.

Mandler said he wanted to capture the "marching, war-like tone of the song". He succeeded by organizing “a chaotic account of militia-like entities revolting, complete with Molotov-cocktail explosions, riot-like activity and the high-powered trio of Hov, Kanye West, and Rihanna performing in the midst of it all.” Basically, a dope new video all around, it will def stir your

IMAGINE: Aint Nuthin Like A
Brooklyn Gurl

WHEN FREESTYLE BATTLES GO WRONG...
[SMH(shaking my head)]
This is a prime example of why its important to expect an outcome from your actions..and more importantly be ready to deal with whatever the outcome is. In this case music artist Charles Hamilton dug a little too deep and the youngn in the video had to let him know about it[smh] Shouts out to Charles Hamilton though..and much respect for not putting his hands on her, even out of reflex. [like some other lames would have probably done]. I can't really IMAGine how I would've reacted to her initially. Also big ups to the girl Briana for not taking BS from nobody [like some other females usually do]; but I digress. I guess when you're right you're right.."Aint nothin like a Brooklyn Girl"

That got me to thinking about a couple other memorable freestyle battles gone wrong...[again..smh].

Niks.."Oh you MAd Cuz Im stylin on you"

[Lazy?...fwd to about 5:15 then..smh]

Random NYC Rap Battle.."Yo..Get Out My Face Son"

[Still Lazy?...fwd to about 2:02 then]

Crazy right? I doubt you see me freestyle alone anymore[jk]...but to all the rappers out there..when you run out of words to say...don't just hit somebody[smh]..keep your hands to yourself and...

IMAGINE: The Most INTERESTING Man in the World

You've seen the commercials by now. I must say after watching it actually made me want to try Dos Equis; even though like the Most Interesting Man I "don't always drink beer". Some people have commented that the ad campaign doesn't make any sense??? IMAGine if there was really a man who...

"Lives vicariously through himself..

His Blood smells like cologne..

His organ donor card also lists his beard..

Can cure narcolepsy just by entering a room..etc
"

This dude is the definition of SWAGG to put it bluntly[Jay-Z go kill youself...jk Hov still the man..but I digress]. I also appreciate that he has some color..thats interesting in and of itself. But why doesn't he have a name? Well because that's a part of being interesting; and there isn't any name worthy of his aura known to man..
+ The way he drops knowledge I consider him to be the ultimate role model, ["his legend is expanding faster than the universe"] and the ad campaign actually is pretty clever..STAY THIRSTY and drink Dos Equis..STAY THIRSTY and live life to the fullest. So if you can't understand that?...Your just not using your imagination..

Stay thirsty my friends, and..
