Imagine: No Fame Kills?!

This June on the View Kanye announced that he was putting together a tour with Lady Gaga, however he gave no details. As of recently it was announced that the tour would be called "FAME KILLS" and that Ye and Gaga were the only artists slated to perform. This past Tuesday morning an array of tour dates and cities were listed in the Ticketmaster website. They have since been removed. As of 6 p.m. Tuesday, Ticketmaster currently lists no upcoming dates for West or the tour. It's still too early to tell if this has anything to do with the previous post below, and West' claim that he still hasn't taken time off to reflect. However the dissapearing tour dates definitely makes one raise an eyebrow. Ill keep you posted. Keep your Imagination tuned.

This is a follow up to yesterdays' story. On the series premier of 'The Jay Leno Show' where Jay-Z, Rhianna, and Kanye West were slated to perform, Kanye asked Jay Leno for a chance to speak about what happened; and about his next move. Take a look.

Imagine: The Aftermath of Kanye's Outburst at the 09 VMA's

What a crazy Sunday night at the 2009 MTV VMAs. Everyone has seen, talked about, or at least heard about Kanye West' outburst last night, and while it was in deed in bad taste, and Im not condoning it, I just wanted to be one of the few to post Kanye's apology [lmso..hopefully he called Taylor and told her personally]. And I also wanted to point out the half empty bottle of Hennessy he had ben carrying around all night [again..not condoning it..just saying]. If you somehow missed it, basically Kanye jumped on stage and took the mic from Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech for Best Female Video to explain to everyone... "I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time,"[SMH]..here's what happened after...sources at MTV say Taylor Swift was seen crying backstage and being consoled by her mom. Kanye was asked to leave the building by MTV staff.

KANYE WRITES...

Hopefully Kanye will think twice next time before one of his classic outbursts. And maybe he'll leave the bottle of IMAGination [Hennessy] in the car. Classy move by the beautiful Miss Beyonce to redeem Taylor's night.

IN OTHER NEWS....THREE IS DEF A CROWD..

Kanye basically overshadowed the fact that Lil Mama [hip-hop artist and "America's Best Dance Crew" judge] tried to crash Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' finale performance unannounced and uninvited. During Jay's performance of "Empire State of Mind" to close the show, "Lil Mama" comes from her seat in the crowd up onto the stage [which seemed to be the cool thing to do that night smh] and starts to nod to the beat in front of Jay. While he did appear surprised, Jay played it smooth and continued to bob his head as well while finishing his last verse. He even threw in a punchline while Keys finished the chorus saying "You T-Paining right now" apparently referring to T Pain coming onstage unannounced during his Summer Jam performance of "D.O.A.". He then tapped her on the leg as a gesture to fall back, but she ignored the gesture and continued to try soak up some of the spotlight. She even struck a b-girl pose, and scooted to the center of the stage to be awkwardly included in the final stage shot which clearly belonged to Jay and Keys. Definitely a "smh" moment..Lil Mama, get some IMAGination.

One last shout out to Wale and UCB who got to be the house band last night for the VMAs. Good to see them do their thing and represent the DMV area.

Imagine: BLUEPRINT III

"What We Talkin Bout"?...BPIII...Who we talkin' bout?...Jay-Z. Most blogs give you a page long rant, but Imag will try to keep it brief, and very subjective[mostly just facts..not from a fans' POV]...Blueprint 3 (BPIII) is simply put, a dope album. Hov was definitely out to send a "Reminder" that even though "A Star is Born" everyday, he is still "As Real As It Gets", and his star shines brightest in the world that is Hip Hop. Jay will tell you himself it takes an "Empire State of Mind" to remain "So Ambitious" when you've been on top for so long. Whatever doubt, boredom, or lack of motivation that led to his hiatus in 2003 [when Jigga felt he was "Off Dat"], is now completely gone with his 3rd release since the classic 'Black Album'. Now it seems he realizes he has nothing left to prove and he can surpass all the "Hate" by just doing him, and making good music[as opposed to trying to please everybody's expectations ie. 'Kingdome Come']; and now that he's realized that fact, he is trully "Young Forever".
With his highly anticipated 11th studio release [first release under his new banner, ROC NATION], all debuting at #1 on Billboard, IceBerg Slim is now 'crusing in the HOV lane' so to speak because well...he's "Already Home". He's made more money than any hip hop mogul[currently worth over $500M], made more platinum albums than any hip hop artist [11, tying Elvis Presley, and sitting just below a little group known as the Beatles for most all time], started and even ended his fair share of trends ie. "DOA", WIFED the most successful and BEAUTIFUL [and $money stackin'$ at $80M last year alone..smh] female in the game...you gotta ask yourself...what's left to do?...well if you're Jiggaman its "On To The Next One" ['in the race to a Billi'- Jay-Z] business as usual. As of 05/20/09 Shawn Carter has purchased the remainder of his Def Jam contract in order to pursue a $200M deal with entertainment giant Live Nation. With distribution by Atlantic Records, his new company is called Roc Nation, and he has already inked some up and coming heavy hitters including J Cole and new signee Wale [hailing from my little hometown of Washington DC]....but enough about him...back to BPIII.
The production absolutely matches his delivery on the album with three words, fresh, masterful, and memorable [can't quite say classic..yet]. The bulk of the production load went to 'Mr. Blueprint' himself Kanye West [who produced 7 joints including the single "Run This Town", also 'Hate' which is a personal favorite of mine]. Other production credits go to Timbaland [3 insane tracks including "Venus vs. Mars" which is ridiculous, its also features some sexy vocals from Beyonce if you listen closely], The Neptunes[classic "So Ambitious" record feat. Pharell], No ID [worked with Kanye on 4 tracks], Swizz Beatz [delivered that 'street banga' that every artist needs "On to the next one", one of the best tracks on BPIII], The Inkredibles [you probably heard them producing most of Rick (officer) Ross' album, they deliver with Young Jeezy to bring a dope southern feel on "Real as it gets"], and last but not least Al Shux[who provides Jay with a dare I say it.. classic New York anthem that he is always looking for..I expect to hear Alicia Keys' soulful voice singing this hook on commercials and movie trailers for years to come].
In closing, dope flow, dope production, dope album. Best track?...too early to decide[but i'd say Reminder]. Where does it rank with his others?...too early to decide[definitelty top 3]. Jay-Z doesn't disappoint, and as expected [justifiably] claims he is the best in the game. I expect to hear at least a few more albums from S. Dot before he [seriously] decides to hang it up [but hopefully not too soon Jay..Hip Hop still needs your Imagination]. Def go cop[BUY] this one. I know I said less than a page, but c'mon its the BPIII. Til next time...Peace.

"Empire State of Mind feat. Alicia Keys":

.......Oh and I almost forgot.."Thank You".

Imagine: New Movie Starring T.I. & Chris Brown

Both T.I. and Chris Brown have already made their "acting debuts" but this is the first film in which they will have to deliver characters "outside themselves" in order for the plot to be believable. From T.I.'s performance in "ATL" and Chris Brown's performance in "THIS CHRISTMAS" I will wait until the film is actually released before I pass judgement.
The film, directed by John Luessenhop, revolves around a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case. TAKERS opens February 19th, 2010. This seems like something worth watching when it hits theaters, interesting plot and a star studded cast; leaves a lot to expect your imagination. Bravo.
